Jewelry Appraisal 101

August 28th, 2024

What is it?

A jewelry appraisal is the official documentation including photographs that describe a piece of jewelry. It assesses the jewelry’s quality and then assigns a dollar value to it. This dollar value serves as an estimate of how much it would cost to replace the item. This official documentation serves as a record of ownership and will most likely be required to attain insurance.

Which Pieces Should I Get Appraised?

You should get any jewelry pieces appraised that will be valued at $1000 or more. We offer a jewelry appraisal service starting at $75 per piece that is completed by our in-house GIA-certified gemologists.

How Often Should I Have My Jewelry Appraised?

We recommend that you get your appraisal updated every 5 years. Most insurance companies will require an updated appraisal that way your coverage is accurate.
